PORTRAITS?

Documenting the human experience through portraiture and Figurative art has interested me for a long time. Since I was a student at Beal Art School in London, Ontario, I was experimenting with a hard geometric, deconstructive aesthetic trying to find a visual voice, which was in a way, inauthentic and naive. As of 2013 my artistic practice in Boston focused almost exclusively on semi abstract, optical and/or kinetic, mixed media and experimental portraiture. This coincided with several tragic personal experiences; in April the Boston Marathon Bombing, the death of my mother from cancer in October, and the simultaneous diagnosis of my father’s cancer and the psychological pain I felt as a result.
